Jeremy Shugar, DO
Hello, and thank you for your interest in my practice!

I am a NYC-based board-certified physician specializing in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM/OMM). My experience integrating osteopathic care into traditional medicine spans a wide range of settings from trauma and intensive care to neonatal and pediatric care, equipping me with a broad understanding of patient needs across the lifespan.
My medical training and experience includes:
St. Barnabas Hospital (internship and residency)
Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (faculty)
Federal Reserve System (staff physician)
St. Barnabas Hospital, Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Residency (associate program director)
After medical school, my medical journey began with my internship and residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, NY, a place renowned for its strong emphasis on traditional osteopathy. After my residency, I ventured into both academic and clinical roles, including a faculty position at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and a stint as a staff physician for the Federal Reserve System. These roles have expanded my expertise and reaffirmed my dedication to holistic health.
Intrigued by the complex interplay between physical and emotional health, I delved into the study of non-traditional treatments, particularly psychedelics, for their potential to address profound somatic and emotional distress.
My exploration led to formal training in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) at The Ketamine Training Center. Here, I learned the essentials of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy from those who pioneered and standardized “best practices.” I have come to appreciate that psychedelic assisted modalities requires a nuanced approach with a deep respect for the medicine, patient trust and the process of creating the right space. Most importantly, it is about “doing the work” necessary for deep healing and growth. Incidentally, I believe that the medicine should revolve around the work, the work should never revolve around the medicine.
I currently serve as the Program Director for the St. Barnabas Hospital Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Residency. In this role, I am deeply involved in mentoring the next generation of physicians, while also providing osteopathic care to a diverse and underserved patient population.
Outside my hospital work, I safely and responsibly integrate psychedelic medicine into my private PASTmed practice. I am excited about the possibilities this brings to my patients, combining my osteopathic skills with cutting-edge treatments to offer comprehensive, compassionate care.
